Journalist Reports Employee Said Talarico Was Discharged from Ohio Mental Health Facility; Campaign Cites Flu

Independent journalist Nick Sortor reported Sunday that a hospital employee at the Lindner Center of Hope near Cincinnati told him and another reporter that James Talarico had been discharged. Sortor characterized the campaign’s prior flu explanation as false. The employee has not been identified, and the facility has not issued a public statement confirming the account.

Talarico’s campaign has attributed his multi-day absence from the campaign trail to influenza and has rejected online rumors of mental-health treatment. In a recent interview, Talarico himself described a ‘nasty case of the flu’ and cautioned against believing everything read online.
